Look for Less: Studio McGee Rugs
If you are like me and the rest of the nation captivated by Shae and Syd McGee’s new Netflix show, then you may find yourself Googling how to get the signature Studio McGee look in your own home. One thing as a designer and in watching the show I’ve realized is the power of RUGS. This post will give you links to the same Studio McGee rugs you see and love but for LESS.
I love rugs because they add warmth, texture, and color to a space. Especially with hardwood flooring so often used (and I prefer!) in living rooms, a rug is a must because it makes the space more comfortable for us, but for kids and pets too. Our dog loves rugs and she would never come in the living room without one to lay on.

This moody bright remodel from Netflix Dream Home Makeover show was a favorite and it’s hard not to see why. The vintage inspired grey and white patterned rug helps define the conversation space in this multi-functional room. Pro tip: make sure the front legs of all furniture can rest on the rug so it doesn’t feel like it’s floating in a room.
The actual rug they used was a Threshold Target rug but it is sold out of most sizes, so I found an even better option here.

Shae’s entry in their new home is just stunning. The warm vintage rug with brown and oranges brings in color and pattern without feeling too heavy. Depending on the size of your entryway, a 3×5, 4×6 or 5×7 rug can fit perfectly and welcome guests. Shop it here.

The master bedroom in the McGee Home is airy, beautiful and neutral. To pull it all together they chose a subtle rug that mimics colors in the rest of the room. it has the tiniest hint of blue/green to it that helps give it some interest. I found a great rug dupe here and it’s currently on sale!

This boho diamond pattern rug brightens up the space and gives it and makes it feels warm and cozy. I found a very similar rug and it’s under $150 for an 8×10!

Another room from the Netflix series, the historic loft. Don’t be afraid to layer a rug over carpet! They still add texture and color and help define the space. Imagine how boring the room would have looked without the rug. I found almost the exact same one (without the tassels) for $112 from RugsUSA, which is one of my go-tos for rugs.

A cheery traditional room gets a pop of color with this blue and white floral rug. I found this rug that’s similar and just as pretty.

The most colorful rug yet. A mid-century modern dining room packs a punch with a single rug that is the statement of the entire room. When everything else is neutral, you can go with a bold rug. Shop it here.
