Round dining tables are an excellent choice for homes because the circular shape welcomes conversation no matter where you are seating. They also help save space, especially in tighter fitting areas or where it may be more difficult to walk around the table if it had sharp edges like a rectangle table. I will share the best places to buy round dining tales, no matter your budget or style that can sit 6-9 people.
We had a cute little round dining table in our first home that had a very tight kitchen and it worked wonderfully! Definitely suited the small space better and allowed more traffic flow. It’s also a lot easier to have a conversation with the entire table, rather than just those seated across and next to you, which tends to happen at rectangle tables.
I searched for the best places online to buy tables and there are so many great options for all different styles and sizes! Some can even extend and seat up to 8 or more chairs.

When determining what size of table will fit in your dining room, measure your space and allow for at least 36” from the edge of the table to the wall or any other furniture to allow for chairs to scoot in and out. If you have room for a larger table, sometimes an oval shape is best so you aren’t talking across a large circular table.
How Many Chairs Fit Around A 60” Round Table?
There are a few guidelines to keep in mind when deciding how many chairs can fit around a table…
First, do the chairs have arms? If they do, they are usually wider and take up more space. Even if your chairs don’t have arms, knowing the width of the chair is important.
A good rule of thumb is a chair typically needs about 24-30” of space for each.
Second, notice the leg placement on your dining table. Oftentimes legs will determine where chairs will sit so no one is jamming their knees. If you have two table legs on the ends, it can be tricky to fit chairs. That’s the beauty of a pedestal base table where you don’t have to worry about table legs getting in the way.
Third, is your dining setting formal or casual? If it’s a casual breakfast nook, you can get away with a tighter seating. 24” is enough for each chair typically. In a formal dining room setting, it’s nice to allow for more elbow room so 30” is recommended.
A round table that’s 48” – 60” can fit 6 chairs. You might be able to squeeze a seventh chair on a 60” table, but it depends on the chair size. A round table that’s 72” in diameter can seat up to 8 guests.
And if you like a little match equation to figure out how many chairs fit around your table, take the circumference of the table and divide it by either 24″ (casual) or 30″ (formal) to get how many chairs will fit!
Of course, take into account the width of your chair, but this is a great starting point.
Now for the round up of my favorite round dining tables…
This table has a leaf in it and extends to 62” which is perfect if you only need a larger table a couple times a year. When you don’t have guests, you can take the leaf out and it’s a 45” diameter table that seats 4 comfortably. It’s also a great price point and has a really pretty grey-brown finish.
Available in black or white, this oval table also has an extension leaf that extends to 60” to seat up to 6, and seats 4 without the leaf. The pedestal base makes it easy to scoot around the table so you don’t knock your knees on any large table legs in the way.
A really pretty glossy finish with a faux marble top, this table is available in a few different colored bases including gold or black and it even comes in a large size of 78”, plus a 60” oval and 48” oval. Plus, it’s available on Amazon so you can’t beat the convenience.
The base on this table is really unique and makes it a standout piece in your dining room. It seats 4 comfortably and is perfect for a smaller space.
A gold ring insert adds a special touch to this table and gives it a bit of glam. The black wood finish will go with just about any decor, making it extremely versatile.
The rustic table is made from reclaimed pine and gives it a really cool farmhouse look. It’s made from solid wood so it’s also super durable and will last for years.
With over 500 4+ star reviews, this table is sure to be a winner. It leans a bit traditional, but it can work in a variety of settings and homes. It’s also on sale for under $900!
The pedestal table is made from solid mango wood so it’s very high quality and well made. It has an antique finish, giving it character and charm with distressing. It’s available in 2 different sizes, the larger size seating 6.
This table is BEAUTIFUL and the top is made from real marble! The iron black pedestal base contrasts the white top and is a great addition to any dining room. It’s definitely more on the higher end, but it’s a striking piece you will have for years.
You can’t beat the value of the white IKEA pedestal table coming in at under $200. It’s a basic table that’s 40” in diameter that seats 4. While the table isn’t huge, it offers a great option for those smaller spaces and the tabletop claims to resist scratches and stains.
